Personalized wooden pen engraving can turn a writing instrument and its presentation case into a coordinated professional gift. For this Ottawa project, the client supplied a wooden pen in a matching wooden case and requested personalization on both pieces.
The pen was engraved with the recipient’s name, Dr. Malachie Azémar, while the presentation case included a longer French message and a reference to Proverbes 16:3. The two engraving areas required very different layouts while still forming one coordinated personalized gift.
What Did the Client Want Engraved?
The client wanted both the wooden pen and its presentation case personalized.
The recipient’s name, Dr. Malachie Azémar, was engraved directly along the narrow wooden barrel of the pen.
The inside of the wooden presentation case contained additional personalized French text:
“Recommande à l’Éternel tes œuvres,
Et tes projets réussiront.
Proverbes 16:3”
This created two levels of personalization: the recipient’s name on the writing instrument itself and a longer meaningful message inside the presentation box.
What Was the Wooden Pen Engraving Challenge?
The pen and presentation case provided two very different engraving areas.
The cylindrical pen barrel offered only a long, narrow space, requiring the recipient’s name to be precisely sized and aligned.
The wooden case provided a larger flat surface but contained substantially more text. The message needed to be arranged across several lines and sized so that it remained readable while fitting naturally underneath the pen.
Natural wood grain and colour variation also remain visible around both engraved areas and contribute to the appearance of the finished piece.
What We Produced
We prepared separate layouts for the wooden pen and its matching presentation case.
The recipient’s name was laser engraved directly onto the pen barrel, while the longer French message and reference were engraved inside the wooden case.
The two layouts were designed specifically for their respective engraving areas rather than simply reproducing the same artwork on both surfaces.
What Was the Result?
The finished project became a coordinated personalized wooden pen gift set.
The recipient’s name provides visible individual personalization on the pen itself, while the engraved message inside the case adds another layer of meaning when the gift is opened.
This project demonstrates our ability to handle personalized wooden pen engraving together with multi-line text on matching presentation packaging, creating a complete customized gift rather than engraving only the primary item.
